You Got Books? We Want Them!

Got a favorite author who may be looking for a new home? Well, the Lakewood History Museum is launching a new program just in time for your annual Spring cleaning.

Starting on Friday, 2 June the museum will begin accepting hardback and paperback book donations from our members and guests. Donations may be made during our normal business hours on Friday and Saturday from noon to 4 pm.

Naturally, every new program has rules so here’s our’s. Books must be in good condition and may be fiction, non-fiction, poetry, children’s books or coffee table type books. Please no technical, fix-it, inappropriate subject matter or school textbooks. Also no periodicals, newspapers, magazines, pamphlets, cookbooks, books on cassette/tape or DVD, etc.

Books will be accepted from Friday, 2 Jun until Saturday, 19 Aug, 2023. As books arrive they will be sorted, placed on our shelves and made available for repurpose. A two-dollar donation is suggested for each repurposed hardback book. Paperback donations are suggested at two books for a $1.00 donation. Coffee table-sized donations are suggested at $5 per book. Donations must be cash only, credit/debit cards will not be accepted.

Lastly, please do not leave your book donations un-attended at the Museum entrance. Books left unattended at the front entrance will not be placed on shelves, but given to recycle. Thank you for your cooperation on this.

That’s pretty much it for the rules. So, give your favorite author’s books a second life and donate them to the Lakewood History Museum. Then take a few extra minutes to search our collection for a new author to take home with you.

Looking forward to seeing you! Happy reading!

Please note: Repurpose display of all books is at the sole discretion of the Lakewood History Museum, located at 6114 Motor Ave SW, Lakewood, WA 98499. Phone-message number is 253-682-3480.
